Course Notes
This course is ideal for anyone pursuing a part-time training or teaching position in the further and adult education sector.
Edexcel BTEC require students to be aged 19 and above, to enrol on this course. HRD services require students to have a good level of ICT, literacy and numeracy skills.
This course can be taken online using our state-of-the-art learning management system supported by an experienced tutor, or in the classroom/workplace at your request. Prices will vary between modes of delivery.
The Edexcel BTEC Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector Course is available from our centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland and open to everyone worldwide.
For the PTLLS Level 3 course, students should refer to the courses page under teacher trainer development and choose the Specialist Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

The preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector level 4 course or PTLLS level 4 is available from our centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland and open to everyone worldwide.
This course is delivered through online and distance learning or classroom/work based learning, consisting of 30 guided learning hours and coursework only.
The existing six credit PTLLS Level 4 looks at the role, responsibilities and boundaries associated with teaching in the further and adult education sector. They new specification is quite different and includes a number of units:
Unit 001 Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning
Unit 002 Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in
lifelong learning
Unit 003 Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning
Unit 004 Facilitate learning and development in groups
Unit 005 Facilitate learning and development for individuals
Unit 006 Understanding the principles and practices of
assessment
Unit 007 Principles of assessment in lifelong learning
Unit 008 Roles, responsibilities and relationships in lifelong learning
Unit 009 Understanding inclusive learning and teaching in
lifelong learning
Unit 010 Using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in lifelong learning
Unit 011 Manage learning and development in groups
Unit 012 Principles of assessment in lifelong learning
Both qualifications hold equivalence on the qualifications and credit framework (QCF).
